The short answer

Use the channel that matches your question. For anything about your own registration, ballot, or polling place, contact your election office instead, because we hold no voter records and cannot look anything up.

What we cannot help with

We are not an election office. We cannot look up your registration, tell you your polling place, send you a ballot, change your address, or resolve a problem with your voter record. Those all belong to your state or local election authority, and our election office guide points you to the official directory.

For an immediate threat to anyone’s safety, including at a polling place, contact local emergency services rather than writing to us.

For a voting rights problem, the Department of Justice publishes federal voting resources, which are listed in our sources directory.

What we can help with

  • Corrections. A fact, a date, a link, or a characterization that is wrong.
  • Privacy. Questions about what this site collects, which is nothing that identifies you.
  • Accessibility. A barrier on this site, or a request for content in another format.
  • Press. Questions about how this publication works, its sourcing, or its ownership.
  • Funding. Questions about how the site is paid for and what support does and does not buy.
  • General. Anything that does not fit the categories above.

What to include

The page address, what you were looking at, and what you expected instead. If you are reporting a factual error, an official source is helpful but not required. You do not need to identify yourself.

What we do with your message

We read it, act on it, and delete the message when the matter is closed. We do not add anyone to a mailing list, we do not share messages with a third party, and we do not use a message as a lead for anything.

Support this project

Help cover hosting, source review, accessibility, maintenance, and independent civic education.

Choose how you want to support

Pick an amount, or choose your own on Stripe's page. Nothing is preselected. Our suggestion, if you want one, is $25.

Choose your own amount

Set the amount on Stripe before you pay.

Choose a custom amount

Every tier funds the same work. A larger amount does not buy anything a smaller one does not, and you can cancel at any time from the billing portal linked in every receipt.

  • Payments go to the independent publisher of this site. Stripe names the receiving entity on the checkout page and on your receipt.
  • Payments are not tax deductible, and do not go to a candidate, campaign, political party, or ballot committee.
  • Support does not influence our factual coverage or editorial conclusions.
  • Voter information on this site is free and stays free.

Checkout is hosted by Stripe. Amount and cadence are shown before you pay, and recurring support is never preselected. See the full support terms and how this publication is funded.
